The Murder She Wrote Show covers the life of an English school teacher who just retired from service and also a widow. She is the leading role and her name is Jessica Fletcher, after retiring from school she start writing mysterious and thrilling novels. Though, Jennifer was famous and popular but she chooses Cabot Cave to live in but some outdoor shoots of Cabot Cave were taken in Mendocino, California.

The best part in the heroine of this serial is that she has the curiosity to investigate the cases on her own without any help. She investigates the murders on her own. In the serial the murdered people were found at different places around the Cabot Cave. The chain of such baffling murders was named as "Cabot Cave Syndrome".

Most often Jessica was found involved in the inquiry and jury of different murder cases. Whenever the judges and the law wanted to sentence the murderer of their crime, Jessica always interrupted the decisions of the juries and save the innocent people who were caught due to unavailability of witnesses' and was guiltless. She also exposes the real criminals and murderers. She always tried to catch the murderer with great care and proper investigation with complete witnesses. The consequences were; she always get succeeded to exposes the murderers. The sheriffs and Police Officers of Cabot Cave were not so happy from Jessica. Two of the sheriffs also resigned from their jobs only because of Jessica's interference in their investigation. Due to such interference in the investigations of the Police Officers, they don't allowed Jessica to interfere are come near the site of crime but Jessica always convinced them by her handy thoughts and perceptions regarding murder. But all the police officers were not same; some of them were good friend of Jessica only because they liked her mysterious novels.

With passage of time Jessica also developed good relations and terms with different Police officers across America. She even had very good relations and terms with such Police Officers who were attached with Scotland Police Yard.
